The University of New Hampshire's Little Red Wagon professional theatre troupe is the longest, continually running, not-for-profit, touring children's theatre in the country! Since 1971, groups of five actors tour up and down the Northeast all summer long, visiting various schools, parks, and camps along the way. Each summer, the group visits up to 70 locations along their tour. Each summer, the tour presents two different Theatre for Young Audience pieces to perform in rep. Many pieces are traditional stories, while some are devised by the group or students in the University of New Hampshire Theatre Education department. The Little Red Wagon, a grass-roots model program for the State of New Hampshire, was instrumental in the introduction of Theatre Education into the public school system as a supportive tool for reading and learning.
During the school year, as a part of Little Red Wagon, the group ArtsReach tours across New England during the school days. Featuring students from the University of New Hampshire, this group performs up to 3 days a week between the months of February and May. This show often features shows that have previously been a part of the Little Red Wagon, as well as original pieces not seen on the Little Red Wagon tour! Shows can be booked Monday, Wednesday and Friday between regular school day hours.
